FREE GARDENS FOR ALL
Recycling wood destined for the landfill and covering concrete with gardens is the way we utilize the sun to generate food locally. This project is simple, give food directly to low income individuals and families by utilizing the photosynthesis of edible plants. We use the city’s compost to feed the soil indefinitely. Even busy people want a way to give back. This project allows for carpenters, gardeners and anyone willing to learn the chance to help build a cooler and healthier community.
Plants take carbon from the atmosphere and lock it back in the soil. We use the labor of volunteers, the wood from old decks and structures, the compost generated by city waste, and the collaboration of plants and the sun to remove excess carbon from our atmosphere.
This is a ground-up project that starts with the goodness of people and has the potential grow nationally and internationally. As city landscapes become increasingly prohibitive of local food production, we offer a volunteer-based solution that develops community infrastructure, allowing vulnerable people to sustainably grow produce and combat food insecurity.
